Countdown to Balloons at the Basin
Having some early afternoon fun in the sun. While the breeze is up a little, the gates will be opening at 4pm,
Sunday Morning Update
Just a few balloons flew in Levin this morning as conditions were too windy for most. We have just arrived in Wellington and have been greeted by a perfect day that looks entirely suited to an evening Nightglow at the Basin Reserve. We will not say for certain just yet, but conditions are looking very good at this stage. Here's hoping the Wellington weather stays good for us.

Nightglow Preparations
Just one flight out as the wind is dropping slowly. Pilots & crew are now waiting for the nightglow to start in about 30 mins.
Update: Two more balloons took off tethered together while another two attempted to land on the site, coming close by landing in the next paddock.

Early Afternoon at the Showgrounds
The stalls are in place & now we are waiting to see what the weather is going to do. Looks okay at this stage, we'll keep you posted.
Where are we off from today?
The fleet prepares to head out to the launch site. The task for today is a flight to Lake Horowhenua, arriving from about 7:30.

Photo Opportunity!
The pilot and passengers of Puff the Asthma Foundation balloon pose for a photograph during a brief flight in Levin as part of an article for the Manawatu Standard.
The media is starting to take an interest in the event, and the Balloons at the Basin is starting to generate quite a bit of buzz on sites like Scoop and we are hoping through the mainstreammedia channels as well (we're made for television!)
